Molly's Cookbook: A Peek at Dining in the Past With Meals You Can Cook Today (American Girls Collection)
Published in Paperback by Pleasant Company Publications (September, 1994)
Authors: Polly Athan, Jodi Evert, and Jeanne Thieme
Average review score:

Molly's Cookbook was a great book!
Molly's Cookbook is a book about a 10 year old girl named Molly that shows you different recipes used during the world war in 1944. Molly's Cookbook was a very helpful book. It teaches you history and shows the kinds of food that they cooked. I enjoyed this book very much and I think everyone would like to read this book even if you don't like cooking or history. This book will make history and cooking fun and educational for all ages. If you haven't read the rest of the American Girl books I recommend you read them too.

Monday Always Leads to Murder
Published in Paperback by Dramatic Pub Co (June, 1990)
Author: Pat Cook
Average review score:

Great series from Pat Cook
I've had a chance to either see or perform in several of Pat Cook's plays. This one is one of the best. Cook's writing is crisp, genuinely funny and fast paced. His Harry Monday plays are fun to do, especially for high school or college-aged actors. This guy is definitely one of the wittiest American playrights out there. Very refreshing to find someone who can be funny and not use gross, rude or foul language.

Monsieur Thermidor: A Fantastic Fishy Tale
Published in School & Library Binding by Blackbirch Marketing (March, 1998)
Authors: Richard Kidd and Lindsey Kidd
Average review score:

Gentle, humorous story for young readers.
The story is imaginative and witty, and the illustrations are complex (not busy, just intricate) and colorful. I've already given one copy as a gift and am now buying another.

Monster Buys a Pet
Published in Paperback by MacMillan/McGraw Hill School (June, 1976)
Authors: Ellen Blance, Ann Cook, and Quentin Blake
Average review score:

Fantastic reading for fledgling readers!
I am delighted to see at least some of the Monster Books being re-released! I have been teaching remedial reading for almost 20 years and these books have been a centerpiece of my second grade program. I have even made a large stuffed purple monster to go with the books. The kids love to read the Monster books to Monster and to chart their progress and receive an award and prize when they complete the set. I wish both Set I and Set II would be reprinted as my copies in both sets are wearing out and I can't imagine teaching reading without them. The kids love them and Monster's quirky antics are not dated in spite of the 20 years that have passed since the books were first published by Bowmar.

MOOSEWOOD RESTAURANT KITCHEN GARDEN : CREATIVE GARDENING FOR THE ADVENTUROUS COOK

Average review score:

If you love the Moosewood cookbooks, you'll love this book.
This is an easy-to-use and easy to read book with helpful tips on not only selecting and growing, but cooking with your veggies, edible flowers and herbs. There is also a great list of mail-order sources with descriptions of supplies. I especially liked the design section for its simple and straightforward approach to considerations and approaches towards my garden layout.

More Time Cooks Family Edition
Published in Mass Market Paperback by More Time Moms Publishing (30 July, 1993)
Author: Joanne Lalonde-Hayes
Average review score:

Easy, creative meals with shopping lists
This "cooking system" is great. It consists of a series of caards with different receipes for entire week. There are also cards which consist of shopping lists for that week's worth of meals. Saves time shopping for gorceries, or deciding what to eat that day, and the meals taste really yummy! I can't wait until it comes out on CD so that I can load the recipes directly into my PC!!

Mountain Singer: The Life and the Legacy of Byron Herbert Reece
Published in Paperback by Larlin Corp (October, 1994)
Author: Raymond A. Cook
Average review score:

A Fitting Memorial for a Great American Poet
If you've dayhiked the Appalachian Trail up Blood Mountain in North Georgia, you probably parked at the Byron Herbert Reece Memorial Area. There's also a nature trail named after Reece at nearby Vogel State Park, and the state's historical drama, The Reach of Song, is based on Reece's life and writings.

This biography/anthology is an excellent introduction to the late poet (1917-1958), based on articles, interviews, and previously unpublished journals and letters of Reece himself. The book includes historical photographs of Reece and is scholarly in its research but highly readable in its writing style.

Also included is a large collection of Reece's poetry, drawn from the four volumes of poetry he published in his lifetime. Reece was a master of the poetic ballad, and most of his poems reflect the deep spirituality and the stark realism of the North Georgia mountain people. Highly influenced by the graceful language and rhythms of the King James Bible, Reece breathed new life into traditional poetic forms. This book is highly recommended if you want a rich understanding of this complex, spiritual poet and the mountains and culture he loved.

Mr. Emerson's Cook
Published in Hardcover by Dutton Books (October, 1998)
Author: Judith Byron Schachner
Average review score:

A Beautiful Book!
I just returned from the first day of the NCTE conference in NYC where I attended a session on using picture books in the secondary classroom in conjunction with American classics. Judith Byron Schachner was in attendance and read her wonderful book in a mellifluous Irish brogue. This book is not just for young children. It is a terrific way to introduce high school students to Emerson and Transcendentalism.

Music, Cognition, and Computerized Sound : An Introduction to Psychoacoustics
Published in Hardcover by MIT Press (05 March, 1999)
Author: Perry R. Cook
Average review score:

A great place to start.
Simply a great book to "start" your research. Excellent bibliography, and very very important contributors (those who have made the history of CM). I have bought another couple of books on this subject, however this is the most balanced one. Make sure you read the book by Bregman and Fastl & Zwicker (if your a tech head) once you're finished with this one.
